The people of Khiva love their intricately carved doors.
The one on the left is well weather worn but the carving is still clearly visible. The cushion is for sitting on and watching the world go by.
The right hand door is a newly carved door ready for delivery. We watched the craftsman who carved the door working - just chisel and hammer. He was still working at 10 pm when we were walking home from dinner.
