Photographer's Note
Please open both photos in new tabs for the better versions.
After I took yesterday's photos we entered through the walls and then climbed onto them to watch the sun go down. The setting sun gives the colours of Khiva a deeper, richer colour.
In the WS are a wider photo and also a fun one of our shadows in a section of the walls.

Hello Ian,
I wonder if there is any more "1001 night-ish" city in the world than Khiva. All these domes and minarets and narrow alleys are amazing, especially seen in this light, and no ugly Soviet style buildings to spoil the view.
You could use that "portrait" in the WS for your TE profile, in case it is technically possible to change it. It would be a bit similar to the coincidental portrait I am using.
Best regards,
Gert

Hi Ian,
amazing light and resulting colors. Usually we see these structures in such different color schemes. Fantastic work, the evening light transformed the place completely. Very good point of view which allowed you this brilliant capture,

Hi Ian,
The scene is impressive. The point of view of view is showing the details of the different buildings of Khiva. The dusk light is giving nice colors to the picture. Have a nice day.

Hello Ian,
The warm sunlight is amazing and adds such a wonderful golden glow to the already beautiful buildings of the town. The greenish towers add a nice colour contrast.

Hello Ian,
You certainly had some interesting photographs of Khiva stored away! Each photograph gives us an increased understanding of the city.
Although this main photograph is quite unique, at first, it reminded me of a Lancashire town in the early-to-mid 20th century. The repeating arched windows were like the repeating 'northern lights' on the roof of a cotton mill, whilst the tall towers were like the tall chimneys of the mills.
I like the effects created by the low sun ... and in the w/s.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hi Ian,
Low angle sunshine looks great on these old buildings. Arches and towers give strong oriental feeling to this. You had a great high viewpoint.

Hello Ian,
The evening light makes the buildings look very beautiful.
Great views over the town with it many minarets.
In your first WS several roofs look like they have a white layer on them. I wonder what it is. Snow is impossible in the beginning of September.
Best regards, Paul

Hi Ian
Nice overall view of the city skyline despite the challenge of a strong warm morning light. The haze imho, is a bonus point. Nice take

Hello Ian,
The golden afternoon last light enhanced the light-brown colors of the monumental edifice.
The towers and domes attractively dominating the skyline scene.
Good evening,

Hello Ian,
Is that a mosque or madrassa complex? Whichever, it looks splendid on the afternoon sun. The photo your shadows is quite artsy, that is my favorite of the lot.
