Photographer's Note
Best opened in a new tab for better detail.
When people think of yurts they mostly think of Mongolia but they were actually popular right across Central Asia.
At Toprak Kala these yurts were being used for traveller accommodation. After Chilpyk, Toprak Kala was brimming with facilities for travellers - these yurts and and public toilets!

Hi Ian
ya, i didn't know that, but i guess maybe they're different on the inside? not the traditional yurts? I'm only guessing, I have no idea. Too bad we couldn't see a WS photo of the toilet, that'd be cool haha. So did you stay here? or just passing through? cheers

Bonjour, cher Ian,

Hello Ian, Nice view of these yurts. I have seen many yurts also in Kazakhstan. But I have never slept in one. Nice composition.
Have a nice Sunday

PS. In Russia last year I was with an organized group. I went by bus from Warsaw to St Petersburg, later by trains to the White Sea.

Hello Ian,
If these yurts were intended for tourists I guess they were quite comfortable and neatly furnished. They certainly look more cosy and adapted to local traditions than an ordinary hotel looking like hotels everywhere. It might be fun to sped a night here. It's a nice photo with the usual sharpness and good exposure.
Best regards,
Gert

Hi Ian,the typical houses of nomad people are now a great business for tourists, alwats looking for new emotion, like a night in a tent in the desert. Surely comfortable and with toiletes too as i can read, useful post well done as usual. Have a nice week and thanks,Luciano

Hello Ian,
Great view of this group of yurts in an excellent panorama compositions. The blue sky makes the mainly white roofs stand out nicely.

Hi Ian,
I like the moodiness of this shot. You've captured the true elements and loneliness of the steppes of Uzbekistan.
Best regards

Hello Ian, in the large version this shot looks great; so sharp and full of interest.
As I study each yurt, each one is slightly different to the others.
I know that used by the indigenous people, a yurt can be taken down, packed up and transported away. Ingenious.
I get the impression that they feel quite spacious inside.
Thanks for sharing, kind regards, Jean.

Hello Ian.
Magnificent image with these typical yurts, of arid and desert areas, it is a construction that seems suitable for the extreme weather conditions of these places.
Well seen and done. I like it.
You have a good day.
Very best regards.
Luis.

Hello Ian,
This, too, looks exquisite when viewed at full size. 👍🏻👍🏻 BTW, Toprak Kala means Earthen Fort. I wonder if i could converse with the Özbeks if I went there.
Regards,
MT
