Photographer's Note

In Mae Hong Son, in the mountains of the north, on the Burmese boarder, The Tai Yai tribal people have a tradition of Poy Son Lon. The boys between 10 and 11 are dressed up in finery and taken to the temple to be ordained as temporary Buddhist novices. The ceremony celebrates the parents' pride in their children and the child's gratitude to their parents. The ceremony is an occasion for great celebration.
