Photographer's Note

Lovely flowers in bloom on a busy street fronting the Gyeongbokgung Palace, Seoul, South Korea. The Palace was built in 1395 and was the main royal palace of the Joseon Dynasty.

The Palace was considered as a status and symbol of national sovereignty. However, it was demolished during the Japanese occupation of the country on the early part of the 20th century.

Restoration efforts have been made in the past and another 20 year restoration project is being planned by the South Korean government to restore Gyeongbokgung to its former glory.
