RIBBONS IN THE TREE, a photo from Irkutsk, East Siberia

Photographer's Note

After sunset I and My Chinese girlfriend decided to walk around because our tour would begin few hours after.
Here we can see a sample of a sacred tree whose trunk is covered with ribbons. That rock ahead isn't the Shaman Rock, that one is located more at right and it isn't visible in the image, but in the next.
You can see as the ground around the tree was damaged by the tourists, erosion is one of the worst damages against nature in this island, I will show more terrible images ahead.

Depois do amanecer eu e minha amiga chinesa decidimos dar umas voltas ao redor antes de apanhar o tour que sairia dali umas poucas horas.
Vemos aqui uma árvore sagrada coberta de fitas. Ao fundo está uma rocha, mas não é a Pedra do Shamã, essa estava mais à direita, mas não aparece nessa foto, aparecerá na próxima.
Reparem como o chão ao redor da árvore foi erodido pelos pés dos turistas, aliás, a erosão é um dos problemas mais sérios da ilha e vou mostrar mais locais danificados adiante.

Hello Jorge,
The tree is nice and with all these bright ribbons it looks very exotic. It stands in a good place with a perfect view of the lake. You also had perfect weather that day, so the photo turned out well, with fine colours and clarity. Your temporary travel companion animates the view, especially with her red cap.

Hello Jorge,

The ribbon-decorated tree and your girlfriend in a red hat, make excellent focal points to command f/g interest.
They show up really well in the early morning sunlight, set against a more shady b/g.

Hello Jorge,
It is somewhat a strange tree without much pine needles.
The colourful ribbons give it an exotic appearance.
It has a beautiful location high on the hill overlooking the lake.
The inclusion of your Chinese friend gives us an idea of the height of the tree ... although, are Chinese people usually not very small? :)

El arbol tiene una forma muy bonita con esas retorcidad ramas, pero acabaran axfisiandole con tantas cintas, una curiosa costubre, buena perspectiva del lago.
Buena nitidez, iluminación y color a esta hora temprana.
Bien visto y realizado.

Hi Jorge,
this view is amazing, the tree adds a very interesting dramatic touch here.Personally I would prefer it without the colorful ribbons but I suppose it is again the side effect of a local religion. They add some color but they don't look nice too me.
The lady brings in a charming orange hat to the scene. She obviously photographs the ribbons from the closer distance.
Very well done!!
