Flip-flops for sale at a public market in Aklan, the Philippines.
Tsinelas as they are called are not used really for the beach but for everyday life, just like one uses shoes in the Western world. Locals also call them as "slippers" or even "smagol" pertaining to the fact that back in the 1960s, these slippers were smuggled into the country.
