Photographer's Note

This little lady was quite the madam when trying to get some decent shots. However, like most kids portraits, capturing their quirky nature is half the fun!!

The markings on this young child's face you'll find on nearly all girls/women all over Burma. The main purpose for it is to protect the skin from the sun and to improve the complexion. The mildly fragrant powder/paste is made from grinding the stem/bark of the Thanaka plant.

Taken at Nyaung U market.

Setting: 300 mm, 1/150 sec, F5.6, ISO Raw 200, 1440 hrs
