Photographer's Note

That park is located near the sea just in front of Singapore. The Tan heok nee walk was conceptualized and designed to be a friendly pedestrian mall. The idea is to remind us the history of Tan heok nee who was a cloth merchant in Singapore, and became a very successful pepper and clove trader in Johor Bahru. Beside that, another important reason for this eye-pleasing mall is to provide confortable, clean and organized network of walkways linking the business district at jalan Wong ah fook to jalan Dato' Onn in front of the Majlis bandaraya (city council building) and the post office. This will revive business activities in the area as the Tan heok nee walk becomes a focus point for Johor Bahru citizens as well as visitors.
