Photographer's Note
Seem my internet service also taken long leave for celebrate labour day, just fixed it at yesterday late evening. I'm depressed like the cloudy sky.
I found this row of old shop lots were fade in color.
Kampar is a town in the state of Perak, Malaysia. Founded in 1887, the town lies within the Kinta Valley, an area rich with tin reserves. It was a tin mining town which boomed during the heights of the tin mining industry. There were many tin mines on the outskirts of Kampar during the height of the mining boom. Most of them were established in the late 19th century, flourished in the 1900s, only to stagnate and decline after World War I, with the exception of an exhilarating boom in the 1920s. Most have closed down following the collapse of the industry.

Hello Ally,
Now you are happily back to TE..:)), I try to imagine the smile on your face.
A very distinct photo, very sharp with excellent details as always. It is good that you have taken this under diffused light to avoid any strong shadows. The original facades of old buildings are getting fewer everyday and these are always charming to look at. Thanks for posting from Kampar.

Hi, Ally.
You got a very nice angle on those weather-beaten facades. A charming and at the same time melancholic composition, one that perfectly reflects the feeling of decline you write about in your note. Good job, TFS!
Take care, I'll be seeing you.
Fulvio.

Olá Ally, nice set of facades. A pitty they are in so bad shape, specially the one in the middle. With a new face of fresh paint it would become unrecognizable. Somehow the architecture seems familiar to me and it wouldn't surprise me if it was from any malasya town I visited in the past.

Hi Ally
Your shot is beautifully sharp and clear. I like the juxtaposition of the newer looking cars in front of the older more run down buildings.

Hi Ally,
The diagonal line of the street is an asset to the composition. The point of view is allowing us to see with precision the details and colors of the architecture of the shops. The subject is well framed. The surrounding light is enhancing the colors of the picture. Have a nice day.

Hello Ally,
Reminds me of Kolkata, my hometown. The streets of the old North Kolkata have a striking similarity with this one...old buildings, things being sold on footpaths.
Good, srisp shot.

hi Ally
I can say this row of shophouses are also found easily in many towns of Sarawak like Kuching or Sibu with the same kind of architecture style and appearance. It is funny that these buildings must be built at the same era with the same trade skill and material. Even the display signs, the roadside curb, footway and parking look similar :)
I have never reached Kampar other than Ipoh or Taiping but the next time I travel north, I must visit all the smaller places.
A good job in documenting the buildigns of Kampar.

Hello Ally,
The frontages with scaled painting contrast with glowing the cars. The details are important and interesting, and show without turnings, the daily life with Kampar. The difficult light is well managed, the natural colors are pleasant. congratulations.
Have a nice day

Hi Ally,
Not something i would think off when i hear Malaysia. I see modern architecture, skyscrapers, golden sandy beaches, jungles. But as in every country it's not always what it is when looking deeper inside a country. The old building, but also the signs on the poles look ancient, hard contrast with the new grey cars standing in front.
Interesting to show it from this pov....very nice.

Henk

Bonjour Ally.
La réalité et les contraintes économiques viennent à bout des beaux immeubles bâtis pendant la prospérité. Ta photo est là pour nous le rappeler.
Une photo reportage bien réalisée !

Hello Ally, I think the sun not shinning may have helped you in this shot by eliminating the strong bright light & shadows, this light suits these buildings very well. Good sharp image with excellent detail, Now that you have your connection back you will no longer feel grey like the sky. ;-), as always enjoyed reading your informative note. thank you

Hello Ally,
interesting composition. I like it that you chose this POV - a little diagonal, rather than taking a shot from a different POV which would make the row of the houses stand in a horizontal line.
Good natural well-balanced colours. Interesting architecture!
Warm regards,
Elena
PS. your internet service? it took long to have it mended? I remember that several years ago I had to wait 4(!) months till my provider repaired the broken Internet line! those were the times......... :)

Hello Ally,
An interesting street with architecture from late 1800s, unfortunately some of the houses seem to be in a rather poor state!
The point of view works well adding fine lines to the composition, interesting details in signs and buildings...

Hello Ally:
Certainly the passage of time and the demands it made during the days of mining, have caused havoc in the various facades of the chain architecture.
Good point, and the details of the damaged walls, there are clearly in a good frame.
A special greeting from Colombia, John

Ally, after seeing your picture and reading your comment, I had to post a critic, because yesterday afternoon my internet connection was cut for hours. Only by late evening I was again online. Your picture reflects my yesterday mood perfectly, a touch of helplessness. Your composition adds nothing to the natural capture and light, it's a perfect daily life shot of Malaysian small town life.
Best regards
Urs
