Photographer's Note
while in japan i had a chance to visit the massive reclining buddha just out side of fukuoka. this is the second shot i've posted of the buddha.
i was realy amazed by the lines and contours in the sculpture.
i took a lot of shots from different angles, but this shot, that includes the statuettes at the front of the buddha, was a shot that i quite liked.

A beautiful picture David, really well seen and done, colors and contrast are perfect, but especially I like how you have cropped and composed it, all my compliments!!
have a nice day,
Fabio.

David, I like this a lot, my only suggestion would be to work the sky on the background to add some color, very subtle, that way the statues will look better... otherwise a BW version would be nice too. Great capture, my friend!

Well I'm even amore of a fan of this one, David, and if yu don't mind I will persist in expressing my enthusiasim for this clever and sensitive view. You have managed to make this scene organically dynamic in a very harmonious way.
Congrats!

Great shot - the little statues are fascinating - and the colours are all unified. Also like the way youve cropped Buddhas head a bit - I think a lot of people would have been afraid to do that.
Well done,
Dave.

Hi David,
I just have to compare your two versions.
In my opinion the relation between small statues and the Buddha makes this picture. No matter the scale is the Buddha has to be big!
And colour is essential to give an idea of the material.
Good one, even eith the sky.

Nice comparison of the big head and a the little people along the lower edge. As for composition I note a strong diagonal in the direction of the face and a more subtle on in the line of the top of heads below.

The pic reflects peace and harmony, the subtle colours are superb; even with that sky.

This is a really unique shot. Did you deliberately cut off the top of his head? I'm curious.
I think it still works because of how powerful this scene is.

Good angle of view - the row's of smaller Buddha's in front is really good & adds contrast to the large Buddha. It's a pity about the dull sky but sometimes the weather doesn't lend a helping hand!

I agree with Anuradha, this shot is very unique. The gathering of statuettes look superimposed due to the difference in colour of the buddha. Very dramatic scene; a great mixture of harmony and activity A++++++++

Really amazing. Fantastic colour and detail. The scale is spot on too. Good crop too. Very impressive.

Hi David,
Nice one despite the dull weather, I like a lot your framing here having the big head rising behind this fun collection of joyful characters, one of them (to the right) looks a bit like Lenin !
Have a nice week end,

2 things draw me to this shot; the statuettes at the front, and the smoothness of the buddha's face.. really interesting composition
