This picture was also taken from southern Kyoto. This is a small temple literally named “Bright And Dark Temple”.

PS: It’s almost the time for cherry blossom. I’m still working on pictures from last fall. I would post more often if uploading pictures to TE is not that painful.

Hi Tiffany,
I love the vibrancy of the color of the tree, and while normally I would not at all like a grey dead sky like that, the tree totally balances and brings enough color through to balance the whole view. Of course the gate is an added interest of a fine architectural feature.

A pitty that the sky was white , because rhis is an attractive composition with the typicla coverd door and the splendid red foliage on the right .
