Photographer's Note

A candid picture of a school girl taken at Yasaka-jinja Shrine which is next to the Gion district in Kyoto. A very colorful and lively Shinto Shrine. This school girl had approached me and asked whether I spoke English and where I came from. It is very common to be approached by students in Japan and perhaps other countries of the Far-East, because their teachers want them to improve their foreign languages abilities. So I complied with her desire and
took a couple of pictures.

This is a stunning portrait, both creatively and technically.

The use of a short focal with the tori repetition is clever and shows your experience. It creates an unbelievable canvas for the girl to stand out. The colour are contrasty but very harmonious. You seize the moment to get a very good one for your portfolio. I really like it.

It's a little soft and maybe the focus was a little off (the necktie looks sharper than the face), but the softness works wells here and she seems to blend into the soft smoothy backcround. Also the red is a very nice contrast to the darker colours of the uniform. I might have cropped off (or cloned) the little square of grey in the bottom right corner as i find it takes away from the contrasting colours.

Doğal ışığın yandan gelmesi, f/4 tercihi ile harika bir geri plan ve derinliği ile ama en önemlisi en öndeki orange bölümün de kompozisyona dahil edilmesi sayesinde enfes bir portre olmuş... Tebrikler ve teşekkürler...

Nice moment Izzet,
I like how the girl seems to "pop up" from the tori. I like this "blue presence" in the middle of this orange background. Great calm expression too.

It's a wonderful photo and a nice note that you added to the photo. It's an interesting contrast between the colors of her school dress and the pillars of this shrine. And her expression is a nice touch, too. Very nicely done!

What really makes this an exceptional shot is the orange background, and the way the girl seems to be emerging out of the wall, even though it is just a trick of the optics. Excellent work!
