Photographer's Note

Not far from Shinjuku in the center of Tokyo is an area called Golden Gai, home to more than 200 tiny bars that can host no more than 6 or 7 people at a time (these are called nomiya). They line up very old, narrow streets, which seem to belong to another era.

Adjacent to Golden Gai is the Hanazono Shrine, where I took this picture of little wood tablets, on which people write wishes that hang in the wind, at the entrance of the shrine.

This was taken at sunset (hence, the colors) and I experimented with a few f-stops before picking this DOF.
