Photographer's Note
it was very difficult to take the photo because of the amounts of people walking, taking photos with flash, boats crossing...
The "tori" (red gate) is illuminated with artificial lights, and the backlight of the lantern, made difficult not to overexpose.
sorry ;) i know mu english is no good

hello David,
A great attempt to shoot this beautiful place. The lamp at the foreground adds to the nice perspective of your picture.
However, given the camera and tripod you've got the Miyajima 'gate' should be way sharper. Also it is quite messy that you've left a bit of ground on the bottom left of picture. Cropping / including more land would help.
By the way, Welcome to TE!!
Also I advice you to always put some notes, at least 4-5 lines length that adds some info to picture and so that we know what the photo's about.
Another advice is to try and critique other people's photographs whether you like it or not. This benefits both you and other members.
Take care,
Cheukhin Tsang

I like this one: very peaceful and beautiful colours. I've done a workshop for you, see if you think it an improvement.
Best wishes

Hola David,
Felicidades por un buen trabajo. La isla de Miyajima es encantadora y te tocó ver el sol atardecer.... And your English is fine. It truly is difficult to get a good shot at this hour with no flash, etc. Thanks!
José Luis
