Photographer's Note

This picture was taken at the Alun-alun in Bandung. The Alun-alun is of square shape and is the heart of the city.It is the equivalent of a town square. Its the place were the big streets meet and it usually consist of a park were people come to hang out. Almost every city in indonesia has its Alun-alun. The one in bandung was closed for a few years as they were building a hudge mosque with two very tall minaret. It just reopened a month ago and people have returned to theyre old habit of hanging out at the alun-alun. The Alun-alun in bandung is very famous in indonesia since bandung is know as a recreational city, it even has songs about it.
An old man was telling me that it used to be the place to bring a date or look for one. Along it you find numerous food stalls and this new alun-alun is actually very moderne, an undergroung area was built, similar to an underground parking lot, were the food hawkers offer theyre various treats. It was probably build this way to reduce traffic since many means of transport converge theyre.
