Photographer's Note

A zoomed shot overlooking the 'sea of black lava sands' with the crowd had gathered early before sunrise, some leaving while other about to climb Mt Bromo. An active volcano lying at the centre of Tengger Massif, 2390m asl. A spectacular volcanic landscape and one of the most recognizable natural landmarks of Indonesia. The hike to the peak usually takes about two hours then continue straight on to the crater rim to see the famed volcano itself. You can see some of those 'ants' scaling up the rugged ridge which suggests the massiveness at full size - a reminiscent of a moonscape

The thrill, the adventure, the danger, the fear of the unknown, the curiosity – all of these words describe the adventure of hiking to Mt Bromo. It’s a picturesque scene without much exaggeration that leaves many awe-struck....

Hello Abmdsudi, the tight framing excluding any sky gives great impact to this shot. The tiny people, as you say, like ants, give a fantastic impression of the scale of the volcano.
It is so barren and inhospitable.
The workshop picture could have been a main shot, the lone man an excellent focal point.

This looks a scene in a science-fiction movie! Some people are walking, others are on horseback, some dust swirling around them. The clothes add small specks of color against the darker background. It's an interesting sight. Take care!

I have climbed up and into the crater of an active volcano in Papua New Guinea but that one is tiny compared with Bromo.
A good one of the crowds and bare mountain side.

I am a little envious. Despite 3 trips across Java I missed Bromo. Interesting to see what I did miss. The people look like ants here and provide scale. Tfs!

A very well proportioned photograph, with lots of interest from the figures, in the f/g, whilst the irregular, fissured, black rock of the volcano has a massive impact as the b/g.
