Photographer's Note

One day after our national independence day. It's in Ramadhan Month, a day before Eid Mubarak. People in Jakarta have already gone to their hometown in all over Indonesia. So Jakarta is less crowded, and minimal polution made the sky is a bit blue and brighter than any other days.

Monas, short for Monumen Nasional or National Monument in english, is quite famous for international traveler. This icon of Great City Jakarta was opened to public in 1975. Lies in Merdeka Square, Monas’ height is approximately 132 meters.

The architecture of Monas was actually inspired by two traditional Indonesia tools for rice-farming. It is Lingga and Yoni. Lingga is the tower and Yoni is the cup on below. Lingga also represent the masculinity while Yoni is the femininity. The idea of these came from Soekarno, our first president.
