Photographer's Note

Spotted this young 'Hibualamo' woman, native of Halmahera Island - a sweet pea standing alone by the window looking out that I was very much drawn by her face, so decided to use this to the best of my advantage within the limited space. A split second of time shot by concentrating on her face in the glow of low natural warm light as I wanted to capture all the elements - especially the deep colours gives it vibrant life in my opinion, as well as her expression whilst she's in a world of her own......

Shooting location:
Onboard 'Sandra Jaya 7' - a small inter-island passenger wooden ferry boat on a three hour trip from Bastiong small harbour in Ternate island to Jailolo on
the west coast of Halmahera Island - the biggest island in North Malaku province. A totally local experience on a slow moving boat and it was an interesting sight crammed with sea of humanity at its best – the activity, sounds, smells and colourful assortment of good natured islanders. 'Traveler’ in me, I always try to explore deeper and understand the culture and often hunts for some peculiar local oddities - see additonal pictures

Setting: 135 mm, 1/400 sec, F2.8, ISO Raw 200, 0821 hrs

Workshop 1: Glimpse of what all babies deserve - a breezy 'sarong' cradle of love & security set up by innovative mom even within the limited space! Indeed a more authentic feel of the place revealing a totally different perspective on life onboard on which i found this particular adjusting mentality of these people very interesting;

Another superb candid portrait. The woman's wistful expression has more than a touch of melancholy about it; one wonders what or who she is thinking about. Technical quality is beyond reproach.

Hello Abmdsudi, her pose and expression leave us wondering as to what she is thinking.
The lighting makes this an exceptional portrait, with catch-light in both of her eyes. Full light on her face would not have had the same effect at all.
You did well considering that you were in a limited space.

A very nice picture but the one sid a little bit dark
But portrait exterior a studio is sometimes difficult
Also composition and presentation make your picture attractive.
