Photographer's Note
I met this man along the street in Hyderabad. He has the mark of Vishnu on his forehead. He had a jolly face and jovial dispositon.

The photograph is good like all of your photographs. I am from Hyderabad and you have made me nostalgic about my place.
I would like to say something about the mark of Vishnu...it symbolizes YONI (of sanskrit origin, meaning the female reproductive organ). It is represented by a U shaped white line with a red line in it. On the other hand, Lord Siva's mark is three horizontal lines with a vertical eye (Lord Siva's third eye on his forehead) in the middle. Lord Siva's devotees do not worship his image but they worship a linga or a phallus (male reproductive organ). Present day Siva linga represents both yoni and linga in coitus.
So, keeping with the symbols of Yoni and linga, Lord Vishnu is the mother and Lord Siva, the father.
Yoni also represents the Goddess Shakthi, the consort of Lord Siva.
