Madurai - Paalamedu - Taming the bull

Newspapers mentioned already in the evening edition:
35 people light and 5 heavy injured young people !

Many oppose against this festival of the cow for the danger of injuries and abuse of animals. Still the government gave the permission to only a few places like here in Paalamedu. A lot of security measures were taken by a double fence to protect the public and only selected competitors were allowed to participate the game.

The questions stays in the media to stop this traditional game of the farmers while on the other hand casualties by traffic on the roads are a lot higher ... should there be more respect for people or for animals ? Traditions or safety on the road ?

Lucky that traditions are hard to stop by politicians so that they can concentrate on traffic :)).

Tomorrow the Poongal Festival will be concluded with the famous Jallikattu Festival of Allanganalur ... to enjoy !

Another great shot of Jellikattu!! Dramatic and vivid for the movement you describe.
I remember one of your really best shots: the one of jellykattu of one or two years ago.
It is a dangerous game! I would know what happened to the man on the ground.
Also this is India!!

Your yearly visit to the festival is offering again this "corrida" and I like it so much.
Bad situation for one of the men.. I like the composition here with a focus on the action, its a good picture
