Photographer's Note

A "Durga" idol is being carried by organisers on a truck to pandal where it will be worshiped for four festive days starting on 29th September.

According to hindu mythology Durga is considered as our daughter who comes at her parents' home for her annual visits. Coming of idol from studio to pandal signifies that act. Durga stays for four days - Shashti, Saptami, Ashtami and Nabami along with her children Ganesha, Laxmi, Kartik and Saraswati and sets for her husband's abode on Vijaya Dashami.

Bringing the idol from the studio has also become a part of the festival. A group of local youths go there in a truck in a very jolly mood. The return journey is also very eventful one with balancing the statue on the truck. In many places the ladies greet the idol by playing conch shell and distributing sweets to the youths. This as if signifies the coming of a married girl to her maternal home with all the family member celebrating her arrival.
