Photographer's Note

Jaisalmer is an island of yellow stoneware to which she owes her nickname golden city in the middle of the desert.

The Jaisalmers citadel was built in 1156 at the top of the hill of Trikuta. Its outer wall is constituted by 99 bastions (added in the 17th century) and surrounds the old town. The geographic situation of Jaisalmer allowed the city to control the main business roads towards Arabia and North Africa.
