Photographer's Note

This is the renowned Hawa Mahal or 'Palace of the Winds' which is a familiar landmark in the heart of Jaipur. This beautiful pink sandstone five-storey palace was constructed in 17th century and the main highlight is its intricate designs of numerous small bay windows - almost one thousand of them. The main intention behind the construction was to facilitate the royal Rajput women and provide them a view of everyday life on the streets below through the windows, as they never appeared in public.


This is a very angled late afternoon shot highlighting a fraction of the Rajputana architecture
