Photographer's Note

Keeping the tradition alive.......

This traditional wall painting or precisely 'Mewar' painting style is common in Udaipur - an integral part of the regionís identity where many of these artworks can be found not only in the palaces, 'havelis' and houses but also on the streets of town. A quaint custom of the past, the themes normally revolve around paintings of war elephants, sceneries, horses, tigers and soldiers from ancient times.

This was captured at a local house, adorning the wall with quite intricate handpainted mural of a Maharaja atop on a bedecked elephant & soldiers guarding the entrance!!

I loved how he merged into the scene
