Photographer's Note

This is the scene, one morning, under the Mahabodi Tree, the tree under which the Buddha meditated on the night of his enlightenment and a most sacred place to Buddhists. At this time a large Tibetan pilgrimage of the Black Hat Sect or Kargu Sect of is taking place. The ceremony is attended by His Holiness, the 17 Karmapa Lama, Trinley Thaye Dorje, who is the leader of this sect. Here a group of senior Lamas is awaiting the arrival of His Holiness.The linage of the Karmapa Lama is the oldest of the Tibetan lines and the position, is a present being contested by another claimant, so that a state of virtual schism exists in this sect. Because, in Tibetan Buddhism senior Lamas are chosen soon after birth and educated for their role, many senior positions can be held by very young people.

Voilà un sujet intéressant accompagné d'une excellente note.
L'attente des dignitaires est manifeste à travers les personnages.
Je remarque que malgré leurs voeux de pauvreté, la montre reste un objet indispensable.
Une image qui doit être difficile à réaliser (compte tenu du contexte religieux).

Hi Kevin,
An interesting capture. What strikes me is the indifference the monks have towards your good self, I can't see one of them looking at you. The other thing is, they are wearing wristwatches, why would time matter to these men, quite strange.

The colours are striking.

Brilliant colour Kevin as well as another interesting collection of Monks. Does the blue have any significance or is just there as a water proof base? Whatever the reason it sets highlights the other colours.
