Photographer's Note

There are a couple of polar opposite views regarding voting.

One is the idea that your vote doesn't really count.

The other idea is that the collection of individuals in our democracy comprise the sovereign nation. This is the "of the people, by the people, and for the people" concept that, however much anyone fails to comprehend it, continues as a principle underlying our form of government. In this wise, it is the power of increasing numbers that embodies the importance of your vote.

In other words, the fewer people who vote in any election, the less power the "electorate" is excercising, and vice-versa.

Those who are elected can see that low voter turnout in any election sends the message that most people are not concerned with the outcome, nor are most people concerned about what they might do until the next election cycle.

This is why voting is important. It isn't who you vote for that matters the most. What matters the most is THAT you vote.
