Photographer's Note
Please click on the link to see the clearer photo. Its so much better, you can see the lights in her eyes. LIGHTS IN THE EYES.
Lets change things up a bit.
Malgo says there are too many countries to post photos from, so when you start posting from a new country, other photos get left behind.
Malgo is so correct. As of now I have posted 75 photos from India, I know for a fact I could post 75 more. I guess the important thing is to mix it up and try to get back to past trips, so thats what i'm doing now.
This lady from Pushkar caught my attention. In the WS is another version, and to be 100% honest I enjoy the WS more. In the WS she is only a small subject in the frame, with the large architecture and open space being the main focus. It shows how alone she is, which sets the mood so well. It's not so much about which photo is better, they're just different. The main photo is more visual, whereas the WS focuses on the mood.
Here in this main post, its all about her. Totally opposite. I approached her, and she didn't mind at all, I even got very close to her and she still didn't mind. I thanked her for her time, showed the photo to her and moved on :) She didn't speak english so we couldn't really communicate, but I suppose in a way we did.
These moments are very memorable.

Hello Craig, I am so glad that you posted the workshop picture so that we are able to get the context of where the woman was situated.
Two excellent shots.
The main post is beautifully composed, the bright colours eye catching.
You do not often share portraits, maybe you should, this is excellent.
Kind regards
Jean

Hi Craig,in fact it's difficult the choice of the main pic. The alone woman in this scenery that i can see in the WS is truly amazing. But it's useful too the portrait of the main pic, showing her face where there is all her history wrote inside. A prospect and a portrait that reminds a lot the pics of Abmdsudi..ehhee..very well done! Regarding my photo, in fact it would be nice if things were left as they are, but these houses are built with mud and straw, and every time it rains, some pieces melt, so a renovation is strictly necessary.Have a nice Sunday and thanks,Luciano

Craig, i ve visited Pushkar in 2005. It s a good memory. I think the lady is sitted on the lake ghats. She wears colorful clothes and doesn t seem to be shy in front of the camera. Sharp shot

Hello Craig,
The WS could also have done well as a main upload, but I certainly prefer this one, and not just because I am crazy about people in photos. We see the old lady's somewhat strange look and her bright clothes much better than in the WS, and we get a decent look at the environment. In the WS she is so far away that she doesn't make much impact, and the environment isn't amazingly beautiful, so the main photo is definitely better in my opinion. Looking at her I get a suspicion that she may not have fully understood what you were doing.
Have a nice Sunday.

Hi Craig,
You have captured well the wondering expression of the woman. The point of view is showing the details of her face and of her clothings. The light has a good effect on the colors. Have a nice day.

Hello Craig,
A great portrait of this lady, who's staring into the distance. You used a good, lower point of view. Her orange and blue clothes stand out well from the white buildings in the background. Also the yellow signs stand out well.

Hi dear Craig
A Portrait shot from you, it is quite unusual, isn't it? Her meaningful facial expression(I am sure she was counsious your camera) is vey appealing. So well balanced compsoition of her and Hindhu characters is so touchy.
All the best and have a good day! Takero

Bonjour, cher Craig,

Hello Craig,
I also have a little preference for your picture in the WS.
However, this one here is a nice portrait and at the same time we get a good glimpse of the architecture at the ghats.
The combination of orange and blue of her clothes makes the photo very attractive.
I think there are too many countries to visit and that life's too short for it :)
Best regards, Paul

Hello Craig,
Yes, I like the w/s better. We get the sense of a vast space with this single person sitting alone, friendless. The composition and the details are very well collected.
It is still interesting to know who the lady was, what she was wearing and that, close-up she didn't look sad but reflective.
I'd like to be able to translate the notices!
Have a good day,
Bev :-)

Hello Craig,
I agree with you that the WS photo has more visual appeal from an artistic POV, but this woman also deserved her close-up. :-) She looks proud, but kind, and her colorful clothes pop against the white background. It's interesting to see her sitting all alone in the WS photo, too.

As said before, India is all about people, Craig.
You gave a nice portrait to the lady, face expression show humble look to some object far behind you.
maybe I'd tend to crop most of the background, but this would be only my personal intention.
My best regards,
Ike

Hello Craig, we both independently looked at our Indian archive. I posted up to now 110 pictures (more with Workshops) but I could post more - how many? some hundreds? Both your photos are different, here we see the interesting portrait of the old woman, in the second - more of the ghats in Pushkar. When I was there, there was no water in the lake, it was all dry. There were only something like swimming pools for the pilgrims.
Have a nice day

Hello Craig,
Missed this one. Good to include a wide angled shot for context. Excellent colour, sharpness & framing. The orange veil contrasts well with the old lady's blue dress. Tfs!

To be honest... I mean really honest... I like both photos. They are different genre but they are both great in their respective categories. And they both show how human presence matters in photography. The vivid colour of her veil really makes her a good focal point whether it's a portrait or wide shot.

Hi Craig,
Very beautiful shot!
Framework, sharpness and light control are perfect as usual. The selection of model is the best for this shot.
Congratulation on your good job !

Hello, Craig!
I like both photos, they complement each other so well! The main photo is a beautiful portrait captured with perfect light and sharpness, and has strong and beautiful colors! And the workshop is really great to give an overall view of this place, showing more of the architecture! Wonderful job!

Hi Craig, I've just discovered your India gallery - some great work. This one reminds me of scalerman (who also took excellent photos in India - and elsewhere) who used to post here sometime ago. Cheers, Steve
