Photographer's Note
This is a shot of the Himalayan ranges as seen from Pelling, Sikkim. The peak to the right is Mt Kabru south (7318m or 24000ft) and the peak to the left is Mt. Rathong (6679m or 22000ft). I took this right at the crack of dawn, hope you'll like it.
I want to thank my dear friend Sagarneel for helping me identify these peaks.

Shaeri,
I love mountains and I particularly love the himalayan mountains since I got the opportunity to trek in the Khumbu region several years ago. Your image is the essence of my experience. Great composition with the dark portions in the bottom and the fog creeping in with partial obstruction of the main attraction but surely not enough to ruin the view. Quite the contrary, enough to enhance the impression!

Hi Shaeri
I really like this B&W version of the two peaks. You have a good range of tones from black to white as the exposure was well handled. Nicely done indeed.

Hi Shaeri,
Wondrous image!!!! I am glad that my information proved to be helpful to you. Both Kabru and Kumbhakarna look splendid. Not too many would have taken a chance with a B&W version . You have taken a bold step, and it has worked out really well. Another thing, when you see the magnificient K in front of you, there's always a tendency of snapping K, or the entire range. This POV with the 'unconventional' peaks is worth appreciating.
However, a request, could you please upload the color version as a WS? I just want to enjoy the stunning view in color too.
Regards,
Sagarneel.

Hi, Shaeri -
A lovely image, and the light and tonal qualities remind me of some of Ansel Adams' mountain shots. I can see why you chose B&W, but I love color dawn shots, and I wonder what it was like in color.
The wisps of fog are just right, too.
Best,

Hi Shaeri,
I like much the definition of the image and this conversion black and white. Beautiful management of the light which gives appreciable strong contrasts. The passage of these some clouds is more beautiful effect. Beautiful work, cheer.

Bonjour Shaeri,
la b&w recèle parfois des secrets à rendre une photo plus belle, les couleurs ne jouant plus, les lumières prennent davantage d'importance.
C'est bien exploité ici, aidé par un format panboramique bien à propos.
Regards.
Daniel.

From NY to the Himalayas - extreme travel contrasts, I like it. THe whites really stand out with this shot. The clouds also add atmosphere.
Sorry to talk Bollywood - but I saw Main Hoon Na yesterday, but thought it was pretty average, and just skipped to the dance numbers in the end. Wasnt this supposed to be quite popular?
Haha anyway back to the photo, good job!

Bonjour Shaeri.
Approcher de tels sommets doit être quelque chose des plus impressionnants. La composition est sobre mais efficace et le choix du B&W fait ressortir ces géants.

Hi Shaeri,
You captured very nicely the beautiful majesty of the Himalayas. The dark stripe bellow and the dark sky above, along with the picturesque smooth low clouds makes the shining snowed peaks stand out wonderfully.
I like much the colour version also, but I think that the B&W enhances a certain mystic mood.

Hello Shaeri
101st post, you start with the Himalayas! Wondered why in B&W, but seeing the WS, I agree with your choice. The shades have come out better here. I had never heard of these peaks before...so thanks to you & Sagar for that.
Best Wishes

Hello Shaeri -
Two smilies for getting up to witness this marvelous scene. Another two for having the foresight to convert this to B&W as this treatment really makes the mountains stand proud and display the morning light. All of the technicals from composition to exposure are spot on the money. Brava, well done!
Thank you for sharing.

hello Shaeri
The next best thing to see Himalayan scenery other than going there myself, is to view this superb shot at home on a screen. No thrills or senses on other aspects, but this visual is enough to convince me its beauty. Great shot.
This is taken at what altitude? Not at base camp?

The B&W makes it class here and pretty unusual for that kind of subject...
The thin horizontal frame works well and so the different layers.

hello Shaeri,
I must say I'm quite surprised how well the B&W version works here, it really brings out the textures and shapes, I definitely like it. captivating contrast between the soft cotton-like clouds and rugged mountains, and I like the lay you have composed the shot with strong layers and great sense of distance. excellent work, my compliments.

Hi Shaeri,
Fantastic B&W white image of these awesome peaks! Your photograph has an Ansel Adams feel to it with the beautiful contrast and your marvelous composition. I think of his "zone system" when I am looking at your photograph and your exposure is perfect. Outstanding both technically and as a work of art!

Hello Shaeri,
There is a timelessness in the representation of these glorious peaks in b&w. The great climbers — George Leigh Mallory, who perished on Mt. Everest in 1924, and Sir Edmond Hillary, who actually made it to the summit in 1953 — would have brought back images like these. I imagine the most dramatic images of these summits is at dawn, as you have photographed them, or late in the afternoon, when the sun is about to set. Everything below 7,000-8000 meters in shadow.
Wonderful shot in this panoramic format,
Bulent
