Photographer's Note
Mt Kangchenjunga is the third highest peak in the world (after Mount Everest and K2) with an altitude of 8,586 metres (28,169 feet). This is a shot of Mt Kangchenjunga from Pelling, Sikkim just when I could barely see it as the first light fell on it.

Hi Shaeri,
this is magnificent, simple and elegant way to frame the peak of Kanchendzongha. It is quite a clear view. I was looking for the exif data here, just wanted to check the focal length data to find out how much zoom you have used.
keep posting.

Hmm... Important photo. This is the summit where famous Polish climber Wanda Rutkiewicz has died, or rather disappeared in 1992.
Dramatic presentation, no doubt.
Regards!

Wanda Rutkiewicz was born on February 4, 1943 in Plungiany, Poland (today Lithuania). She died either on May 12 or May 13, 1992, while climbing Kangchenjunga.
Wanda Rutkiewicz is regarded as one of the greatest woman mountaineers ever. She was the third woman, the first Pole and the first European woman to reach the summit of Mount Everest on October 16, 1978. In 1986 she became the first woman to successfully climb K2 as part of a small expedition led by Lilliane and Maurice Barrard.

Hi Shaeri, The lighting here is superb, the large silhouette in the foreground is a nice contrast to the bright snow covered peak behind, the low cloud & dark sky also give off a wonderful atmosphere, it's well framed & well titled, kind regards Wilson.

Hi Shaeri,
to me mountains are special, I don't see them very often, so...this is breathtaking. What can one say to so much beauty together, the presents of nature...I love that first light, the strong contrast, the silence. A silence full of vibrations. Great work, my compliments !

Hi, Shaeri,
what a beautiful shot! I LOVE that light and I really like the way the shot is divided into thirds. A dark foreground, marvelously lit center and dark back. The light is just awesome and you still have excellent detail. This is a superb shot! Many thanks and warm regards,

Hi, Shaeri -
This is an absolutely incredible shot, taken just at the right moment when the sun was starting to hit the mountain peaks. I can just imagine how cold and tired you must have been while getting this, bur good photographers will do anything for the shot!
I really like that second peak just starting to see the light.
Happy new year,
Dan

Hello Shaeri,
It is magnificent. I imagine the happiness which we have to feel by attending this show, as when the curtain of the theater opens on fabulous one sets!
The contrast between the deep blue of sky, the foreground in the shadow with the small lights which we guess and the enlightened mountain is striking.
Congratulations and Happy new year!

Hi Shaeri. You seem to have made your October visit to Sikkim absolutely worthwhile. Splendid handling of contrasts. Very well composed. The title of this shot is befitting the occasion. The first light at first sight when one gets, it leaves an indelible mark or a dot or a scratch. But the fact is -- it is unforgettable. You are lucky to get it. Regards.

Hello Shaeri,
It is my dream to someday see a peak of this height. The half of the mountain in shadow is interesting; it almost seems as if it is invisible apart from a slight outline. The tallest I have seen is Mt. Cook in New Zealand at 3,754metres (just over 40% the height of this majestic peak). To put it into perspective, this is 4 times taller than any peak in Australia! Absolutely incredible landscape! Well managed lighting and sharpness - there are lots of dark sections but it adds to the feeling of the image.

Hi Shaeri,
Impressive, really impressive shot. Not only by that majestic mountain, but more how you controlled that wonderful light that is striking that mountain. The darker tones suit the image very well, it gives a perfect touch and brings out the mountain itself even more...great work, i like it a lot.
