Photographer's Note

The Myoko Festival that welcomes the coming of the Peach blossom, the start of the Apatani New Year. The Shaman is wearing a traditional haircut (it is actually a hat), the eggs sybolize fertility. There are numerous pigs awaiting slaughter (for meat). The Apatani are animist and worship the sun (Donyi) and moon (Polo). It was around 0600hrs and wet, the rain brought by suitable sacrifices two days before.
