Photographer's Note

Clicked this picture when i went to The Himalayas for trekking. Place is breathtaking beautiful. Trek is called The Kuari Pass Trek or Lord Cursion Trail..

Trekking over the Kuari Pass affords some the finest views of the Himalaya - including the many peaks near Nanda Devi. This trek was a favourite of the British trekkers. The pass was often referred to as the Curzon Pass because of former Viceroy George Nathaniel Curzon's love for the region, although he never crossed the pass; his party turned back after an attack by a swam of bees!

Although the Kuari Pass (3640m) is not high by Himalayan standards, take an additional day for acclimatization, particularly if considering camping near the pass. Beyond the pass the trail leads through a number of valleys with plenty of ascents and descents. The trek can also be extended to Roopkuind for an exhilarating 10 - to - 12 day expedition.

The pass (khal) is approached through a narrow goat track at an elevation of 4265 mts. in the heart of Chamoli District. The glorious View of the imposing eastern peaks of the Garhwal Himalayas is unforgettably enchanting. They appear so close with their grand glittering snow caps that one feels like Almost touching them. If the weather is clear then the peaks Visible from Kuari Pass are Nanda devi, Dunagiri, Bethartoli, Devasthan, etc. Since Lord Curzon once trekked upto Kuari Pass, the trail is known as Curzon trail
