Photographer's Note

I came across this herd just before crossing the Taglung la (5328 meters asl) on the Manali Leh road on my bike(bicycle). I really liked the nomads of this herd, they had that very peculiar look of people shaped by the landscape. Just by looking at them you could tell that they were used to living at an altitude of 5000 meters with lots of sunshine and winds.

About Manali Leh Road
It is one of the highest motrable roads in the world (475 km long, most of it above 3500 mts) and it passes through many mountain ranges before finally reaching Leh in Ladakh. There are six passes on this road (three of them over 5000 meters plus). It is one of the best bike rides I have ever done. By the way going uphill is not as much of a fun as free wheeling downhill .. lols.

Thanks for your visit
