Photographer's Note
Nagarkot or Kangra Fort was erected during the reign of Katoch Dynasty and is said to be constructed by King Susharma Chand Katoch. The katoch family traces its origin to ancient Trigarta Kingdom maentioned in Mahabharat epic. This is one of the oldest forts in India. Like Masroor temples, this fort also suffered huge damage in the earthquake of 1905 in Kangra Valley. The fort possesses a 5000 years old stone statue of Lord Adinath. It is also said that there was a gold statue of Lord Mahavir also in the same temple premises which was taken away by Moghuls later on.
