Photographer's Note

This is Forest Road in Shimla at an altitude 2100 meters. Shimla (pronounced "Shimlo" in local lingo) is the capital of the State "Himachal Pradesh". It is a very important tourist destination. Forest Road is less traversed road by tourists but somebody I knew sometime back walked this road everyday for going to work, infact she is the one in the picture ... Memories ... sigh !!!
Don't miss the street light nailed to the tree

The best thing I like about this place is its climate. Summer time max temperature is around 20 C and in winters max is around 7 C. It snows few times in the winter and one can go for some alpine skiing at Narkanda (60 km from here).

Shimla (old Himachali name "Shymala") came into prominece after it was adopted as a summer capital for the Briish Raj in 1864. Today its environment is severely under stress as the population of this city has exploded and there is so much of construction going on the slopes everywhere. But still it is nice to come across some areas that are untouched and unfrequeted by tourists.

Thanks for your visit .... Cheers !!
