Photographer's Note

This is a roof under construction. In India most of the houses have concrete roofs and this is one of the varients.
This type of roof is common in the central part of India where it is very hot.
What you see in the picture is the third layer made of bricks, they had just finished the laying of bricks when it caught my view and i captured this design. The people sitting on the left side are masons.

So the first layer of this roof is made up of flat sheets of stone covered with yellow mud to absorb heat and then bricks form the 3rd layer, they are further covered with mortar.
This 4 layered roof prevents the intense heat from passing down into the house.

PS: Unable to get a clear shot as the direction of sun was not favorable and this was the only angle available to shoot.

Also this roof was covered with mortar in the next 30 minutes.
