Photographer's Note
In India some people perceive the word "working lady" as a lady who is well educated and well clad. They earn money only for the fulfilment of their own demands. They hardly contribute to their family. But if you pay a visit in places like this brick field, you would immediately understand how ignorant they are. Here they (the working ladies) are far from well clad let alone educated. They hardly earn Rs. 50-60 as their daily wage and all of their earnings go to the daily proceedings of their family. Their abled husbands hardly go out for work pretending to be ill and send their wives forcefully to work to earn money for their evening enjoyment with country made liquor. There is really no one to save these unfortunate women from their plight.

Hi Arjun
A fine close portrait of this woman in her environment. Indeed still lots of women don't have thechance to go to school as they have to marry quickly before her bothers can marry. I hope that since women became in minority of Indian society they would be less traded for the dowry and maybe in future the man will have to pay dowry since women become scarce.

Hi Arjun,
A lovely portrait of the young lady deeply involed in her work. I would say that the choice of black and white worked well here. Good shallow DOF taking the subject more close to us. You have pointed out a social problem through your note too. Very nice composition with a very good note. Keep it up.

Thanks for this thoughtful note, and the picture certainly tells a story, we unfortunately can guess, is pretty close to it. It is good her eyes are taken up by the task at hand, oblivious of you, while the mud she works from (or is it cow dung?) is sadly, but aptly on your part, the main and sharpest element in the picture, so much more unsightly than her.

Hello Arjun
Good note and interesting photo about a worldwide problem: the poor the people the harder the work.
