Photographer's Note
Most of the photographers compare the Victoria with flowers, couples etc... But I did a different job.. I compared the Victoria with a couple of broken slippers.. Hope you like it...
About Victoria:-
The Victoria Memorial (Victoria Memorial Hall) is a large marble building in Kolkata (Calcutta), West Bengal, India which was built between 1906 and 1921. It is dedicated to the memory of Queen Victoria (1819–1901) and is now a museum and tourist destination under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture.[2] The Memorial lies on the Maidan (grounds) by the bank of the Hooghly river, near Jawaharlal Nehru road.
In January 1901, on the death of Queen Victoria,[5] George Curzon, 1st Marquess Curzon of Kedleston and Viceroy of India, suggested the creation of a fitting memorial. He proposed the construction of a grand building with a museum and gardens.[6] Curzon said,
"Let us, therefore, have a building, stately, spacious, monumental and grand, to which every newcomer in Calcutta will turn, to which all the resident population, European and Native, will flock, where all classes will learn the lessons of history, and see revived before their eyes the marvels of the past."[7]
The Prince of Wales, later King George V, laid the foundation stone on 4 January 1906 and it was formally opened to the public in 1921.[8] In 1912, before the Victoria Memorial was finished, King George V announced the transfer of the capital of India from Calcutta to New Delhi.[9] Thus, the Victoria Memorial was built in what would be a provincial city rather than a capital.

Dear Indra,
This is a different type of pic I have seen. The chappals in the foreground and the great architecture in the background.
What is in your mind to compare a old Chappal and a old building?

joginder

Hi Indasish,
I love this building, and seeing your post here shows me why I so much enjoy photographing Belfast city hall recently, there are striking similarities in design between the two. It is a nice and unusual idea to photograph these contrasting elements in one shot. The old slippers for me add a sen of lonliness to the view, making me wonðr whose these we're and where they have gone,
Nice and unique idea.
Cheers

Looks the Victoria is being restored but the slippers need it even more:)! An original idea for sure and it could easily be the start of a story. I like the composition and your idea!
