Photographer's Note
Door's detail at the walled town of Fanling, located in Lan Tsuen valley (New Territories), belonging to the Pang familly. The family was the greatest clam in the region. These old villages of narrow alleys have all a wall with gun holes and a familly ancestral hall where ancestors worship continuos to be practiced. These waled villages were built to protect the clams in the many wars against pirates and other clams.
"Fanling Wai (粉嶺圍) is a walled village in Fanling built by the Pang (彭) clan. It is recognisable with the distinctive pond and layout including features such as cannons and watchtowers. All these elements were crafted to form an integral part of the village setting. Fanling Wai is the centre of the Pang clan who arrived in Hong Kong from Guangxi province late in the Song Dynasty." Hi Flavia,
This is a lovely and artistic shot. A grat composition and interesting subject, too. I appreciate your note. Perhaps could be slightly sharper, but otherwise excellent!

hello Flavia,
very nice detail, I like a lot how getting close to the doors has allowed you to show the beautiful textures of the metal postbox and peeling paint. the collection of geometric shapes certainly make these mondane objects look more interesting, while the rust-brown colour works well to convey the idea of a building that has seen a lot :) I might prefer a slightly shaper image, the metal sheet on the right seems slightly out of focus, but may be it's just my poor eyesight :) fine work in any case, I like this photo a lot.
with best regards,
Kristine

Muito bonita e a tender bem para o lado artístico da fotografia. Gosto muito da nitidez e das texturas da madeira e da tinta a descolar.

Hi Flavia!
Sensational photo, great capture of these amazing details, beautiful colours and great artistic composition! I can almost feel the texture of this old wall, I am always amazed when I see old things, things in a state of "decadence". Congratulations!

Oi Flávia!
Gosto muito deste tipo de foto em close. Os detalhes são bem legais e a saturação e o contraste enriquecem a foto. Bom trabalho!

hello Flavia,
This lovely miniature stands out in your interesting China gallery and is my favourite there. I quite like its near-cubist lack of depth. Cheers.
