Graffiti seen on a wall in Chongqing - how long before Banksy has tagged this city....(maybe he has!?)..but why would he when the derivative desires of Chinese artists are liable to outstrip him at every turn......whether the word SCUM is a comment or someone's tag to the picture or completely unrelated who can tell......perhaps it was even done by a western artist (who are not unknown in these parts.....)......witness the large graffiti Welsh dragon a couple of hundred yards away in the Tank Loft 'street'..........this is clearly a practice piece....a gentle rebellion on the walls of one of the Sichuan Institute of Fine Arts campus buildings but it's a million miles from the classical Russian inspired approach to art education which held sway for so many decades....although even some of the most bizarre works being produced by young artists are coming from generations trained in the old approach............
