North Korean Boarder, a photo from Jilin, North

Photographer's Note

I was visiting a friend in the north east part of China. He took me to see the boarder of North Korea. What struck me about this scene was not the sharp contrast between like in North Korea and China, but how much of a tourist destination it is.

A brightly coloured walkway leading along the river, boat tours down the river, pay-per-use binoculars, and people selling Chinese and Korean stuff.

I like North Korean pictures and I have a particular interest in photos of the border areas between China/DPRK. This photo is great as it shows us this corner of the world. There is always an interesting contrast between the Chinese and North Korean sides. Great job.

Hello, Matt--

Welcome to TE, this is an interesting first shot, and shows a different part of the world. The bright color of the buildint is nice against the more drab background. i think that you included too much sky in the frame--such a drab sky should probably be cropped as much as possible. Also, it would be nice to either include a little bit more of the walkway on the right or crop it completely, as it's not quite in the frame enought to provide the context that it could.

Don't mean to discourage you, this picture certainly has a lot of potential. Happy shooting, and i'll look forward to seeing more of your work!

very interesting view of the border and a good shot to show this place, unusual subject too.
Well composed with the guy on the right and depht, as good perspective. nice job.
