Photographer's Note
Another old image from the archives but reprocessed. This photo taken in one of the temples, the name I cannot remember, in Chonqing has just won second prize for me in a competition with the theme - "Round".
The most important city in western China and the economic engine of the upper Yangzi, Chongqing City is a massive and enthralling urban sprawl, untouched corners such as this are hard to find.

Hello Elaine,
Congratulations on a well deserved award. It's a good composition of vertical accents inside the circle, with the lady as the strongest eye-catcher.
Regards,
Gert

Hello Elaine
Great composition with the sligthly curious woman postioned just right. Good light and the right amount of contrast in bl/w. The many layers of depth create an interesting effect that in spite of being very old, feels very modern. Great to see you've posted a few new (old) shots.

Hello Elaine,
Congratulations on your award.
This looks incredibly authentic, in a country where new builds seem more important.
I just love your composition, where the curved opening frames the pillars, the carvings and, of course, the strongly placed, relaxed lady.
B&W helps to maintain the sense of age.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hello Elaine, congratulations on the award. The many vertical lines and some horizontals contrast so strongly with the circle.
The woman completes the scene.
The b/w presentation works perfectly.
Kind regards, Jean.

Hello Elaine,
Congratulations on winning second prize! It is a beautiful photo with lots of vertical lines within the circle that surrounds it all. Good addition of the lady also.

hello Elaine, Nice black and white composition. I like the round frame and all the vertical lines. I was in Chongqing as the starting point of the Yangtze cruise. A strange big city that no one heard about who wasn't there.
Best regards Malgo

Hi Elaine,
It certainly deserves a prize! The round framing is so original. Through the key hole we see plenty of geometric shapes and elaborated decorations. The prsence of the old lady is of course the highlight.
Excellent work,
M

Hi Elaine,
This photo sure is a winner. The black and treatment really works here, emphasising the geometry of the columns and the round keyhole arch. You have cleverly made the woman the only person in the scene, although there were probably many people around here at the time.
