Photographer's Note

Muztagh Ata mountain towers over the unseen Karakul Lake and these Kyrgyz yurts at 7,546 meters (24,757 feet) high.

While a beautiful, sunny day in this picture, the Kyrgyz yurts have already been abandoned for the winter due to evermore freezing temperatures. Karakul Lake, which sits just beyond the yurts, is a beautiful alpine lake thats surface is 3,600 meters (11,811 feet) high.
