Photographer's Note
Also from my cycling trip in 2002....the face of this tibetan mom says it all...no wording is needed....

This is really an amazing shot, Fan. The subject, composition, and lighting are all great. I just with your "print" were a bit brighter. So I did a workshop.

I am totally smashed by this photo... She looks like she's made of stone or liquid metal... Totally amazing photo.

on the contrary I think wording is needed ;-) it would be nice to read who she is, why she is dressed like this, etc etc etc.
Great portrait but a bit dark and more shaprness wouldn't hurt, few days ago Manny posted a similar portrait here:

Hi Fan -
I would give three points if I could. This is just great. As sharp as possible.
The B/W works great on this. Congrats

effective portrait, the structure on the face brings it more meaning than a portrait. Thanks,

so incredible, the face burned by sun and air, it seems to be an iron face!
excellent!

Somehow I have the feeling I would prefer this if it were in colour. The B&W treatment makes this lady look like a statue, that's partly due to her petrified expression and partly due to that big medallion on her forehead that has exactly the same tone as her hair. But composition is great.

Lovely portrait. The lighting + black&white makes her skin look other-worldly (other posters here have suggested liquid metal, or stone, and I agree) - it's a fascinating effect adding to the age of the subject.
Well done!

yes, a most powerful portrait, her stare is mesmerizing, I looked at it for a long time. Slightly darkish light, not sure if it's a bother to notice, once we entered the frame and came under the spell.

Greetings Fan. Nice to see B&W speak once again with the power that it once had. You have done a master's job here.As you said words are not needed. Mycompliments nevertheless.Klaudio.

Hello Fan,
What a strong portrait! This is really impressive to see all the details and incredible sharpness you’ve captured.
I think the workshop offers a slightly better contrast and highlight, but you did a great job nevertheless. Exquisite!

Amazing shot, Fan. Extremely sharp and detailed and B&W works extremely well here. This face has plethora of stories carved on it... I love her jewelry as well.
The whole picture looks as if it was done in pencil or charcoal. I think you could add some framing.
Thanks for sharing and best regards!
