Photographer's Note

Huge carvings of Buddha decorate the towers of Bayon Temple, constructed in the 12th and 13th centuries by King Jayavarman VII, one of the rulers of the Khmer Empire. The smiling faces were designed to look like the king, and today, about 200 remain.

Note the people in the lower right corner to get a sense of just how big these carvings are.
