The Young and the Ancient, a photo from Siem Reab, West

Photographer's Note

This young Cambodian girl was wandering the ruins of Angkor Wat early one late-summer morning. I didn't have any money to give her, but I did have a stick of gum, which she eagerly took and placed in her satchel. She was quite pleased with the gift, as evidenced by her smile in this photo.

Taken during a month-long trip to SE Asia in summer 2005.

Although I would have liked to have seen a slightly different angle on this, the inclusion of the entire apsara in the BG for instance, the colour-tones that you have here are well rendered.
