Photographer's Note
Along the edge of the Choeung Ek museum stands a tree. It doesn't look special, or different from those nearby. But you have to wonder what it must feel and how it can continue to grow and thrive after seeing and feeling the depths of man's inhumanity. For this is the "Killing Tree" ... the tree the Khmer Rouge's executioners of S-21 swung the children against before throwing them into one of the mass graves.
