Photographer's Note
Yet another one of Bhutan's impressive dzongs. This one is located in Wangdue Phodrang, a small town in western Bhutan along the highway towards the east. This dzong was founded in 1638 and a location was selected on a high ridge between the Punak and the Dang rivers. Like all dzongs it's a combination of monastery and district administration, originally also intended as a fortress.

Hej Gert,
Very fine photo with the dzong of top and the bridge (the dzing?) below. Effectful with the blue sky, the white building and the green slope and finally the bridge.

Hello Gert,
Another link from your most recent upload and here I am. This eagle's nest of a dzong is quite impressive.

I felt heart-broken when this building perished in fire, not only because I had not seen it.
I like the composition here with layers of colour: the river, the hill first rocky then green, the whitewashed walls and the sky.
Have a nice Sunday
