Photographer's Note

This is another image from my archives showing part of the ancient Kairouan Grand mosque complex founded in AD 670 which bears outstanding witness to Roman architecture. It is striking, consisting of more than 400 Roman columns and arches salvaged from the old ruins of Carthage and Sousse miles away. The fact that is very simple in appearance but exquisitely designed and very elegant.

Setting: 10 mm, 1/100 sec, F8, ISO Raw 200, 1020 hrs

The view of the tower framed by the door is great, and the light has been very well managed to show that! I also like the inclusion of the people, that give more life and interest to the scene! Excellent colors and sharpness! Wonderful composition!

J'aime beaucoup le titre qui accompagne cette très jolie composition où la symétrie est presque parfaite mais intentionnellement. Très beau cadre à la tour en arrière plan.

Nice view of the courtyard and the tower through the typically Arabic arch, the columns maybe can be Roman, but the arch is in a different style, very well done

A beautiful photo with an excellent contrast between the lit and shaded areas. The tower looks beautiful in the backdrop and is very nicely framed by the arch and pillars. Also the people were well included and add a good sense of scale.
