Photographer's Note

It was a sunny January day. No, not only sunny but hot one of these days you usually get in early spring that surprises you with bright sunlight and heat... and you start sweating and taking your clothes gradually, only to end up in short sleeves even if'd been convinced days like these are yet months in front of you.

We took a taxi in Sousse to get us to Monastir. Even in a vehicle it was so hot that the driver had to leave all windows opened. Not many people on streets tourists anchored in cafes and locals waking fast trying to stay in shade as much as possible.

It was then when I spotted this young gentleman, walking pavements in a hurry, while sunlight was protruding through lush branches of trees, caressing his face but fully illuminating only the birdcage he was carrying carefully, as if it was the most precious treasure in the world.

Wonder why he was in such a hurry... on such a hot day...
